Eilean Shona is two and a half miles long by one and a half wide, and is only accessible by boat. The island is situated next to Loch Moidart just off the West coast of Scotland. The Ardnamurchan peninsula is to the south, the isles of Eigg, Muck and Rhum to the west and Skye to the north.
One main house and eight other buildings including holiday cottages, a bothy, a community hall and an old schoolhouse are situated on the island.
Eilean Shona is currently privately owned by the Devereux-Branson family and is largely used for holiday lets.

Travel to Eilean Shona

Eilean Shona nestles in the entrance to Loch Moidart on the West Coast of Scotland and there are several ways to get to here. There are daily flights to Glasgow on Easyjet from London, Amsterdam, Berlin and Paris. Lufthansa flies to Glasgow from Dusseldorf. From Glasgow you can rent a car and travel through the stunning Highland landscape. 

Driving

Driving with a Sat Nav, please use Dorlin PH36 4LR. The satnav will bring you to Dorlin Pier, the private car park on the main land next to Eilean Shona. Park here. It takes roughly 3.5 hours to drive from Glasgow to Eilean Shona. 

Train

You can travel on Scot Rail from London Euston either on the day or overnight service to Fort William.

From Fort William it is an hour taxi ride to the jetty on the mainland.

Flying

You can get a flight to Glasgow and then drive or train from there to the island. 

When you arrive at Dorlin Pier, we will be waiting to pick you up and take you over to Eilean Shona on the boat. The ride is a 10 mins long.
